About Us
2024-2025 will mark The Renfield Centre’s thirtieth year as a Scottish charity delivering fair access to quality, fit-for-purposes spaces that enable life-changing work across sectors.
We provide serviced spaces to facilitate a wide range of social, professional, learning and creative activities. On average every year we support 280 organisations with a footfall of over 60,000. We play a crucial role supporting development within the performing arts, as well as subsidising accommodation for charities enabling them to continue doing vital work benefitting diverse communities.
The Renfield Centre must make sure we can continue to support third and cultural sector organisations and fulfil our charitable purposes in a changed landscape that has more people and communities in need than any time in recent memory.
We will be reopening our café and developing an inviting, stimulating and flexible indoor-outdoor communal space where people can come together to mix and enjoy time.
We see a future where people and communities are healthier and more vital, purposeful, adaptable, productive and inspired. We can deepen our impact by working in partnership, pooling resources and expertise, to deliver programmes that support people’s feeling of belonging and their opportunities for learning and work, wellbeing, civic participation and creative engagement.
30 years on, we still have people, community groups, charities and professional organisations at our core, with a small and hardworking team and hands-on trustees, all working to support our next chapter. Now, in addition to benefitting the charity’s diverse communities, we will play our part in meeting the challenges and opportunities for Glasgow city centre, helping to enrich the quality of life for the area’s growing residential population.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders, we are a vibrant, sector-leading activity-events hub and soon-to-be café-bistro that will transition seamlessly from day to night-time, creating a hive of community activity and a liveable, walkable neighbourhood and theatre corner on Bath and Elmbank streets.
